Amélie du Chalard Gallery

Still Growing was a design exhibition curated by Emily Marant with the Amélie du Chalard Gallery during NYCxDESIGN 2025, New York’s annual design festival. It ran for a month in the gallery’s SoHo space and brought together six emerging designers and studios from New York, Miami, and Paris, working across installation, lighting, sculpture, and avant-garde design.

At a time when permanence can no longer be taken for granted, the exhibition explored the changing relationship between design and the natural world. The selected practices actively engaged with organic systems and embraced transformation, impermanence, and material sensitivity. Among them, Joyce Billet collaborated with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami.

Set within a landscape that evoked both origin and the future, the works remained quietly alive, unfinished, and still evolving, inviting a slower gaze and a softer language of form. They demonstrated how material and function can respond to natural systems rather than seek to control them. Here, the boundary between nature and design was neither fixed nor decorative, but active, adaptive, and alive.
