Andrée Putman Studio

In 1984, Andrée Putman signed the Morgans Hotel in New York for Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, widely credited as the first boutique hotel. In 2026, the studio she founded opened its first permanent New York address, at 344 Bowery, under the joint direction of Olivia Putman and Aurélie Laure.

We developed the studio’s cultural strategy for the Americas: positioning the New York space as a working environment rather than a showroom, and shaping the dialogue between design, architecture, hospitality, and culture that runs through it.

The opening, on 14 May 2026, marked the centenary of Andrée Putman’s birth, the same year the studio unveiled its brand relaunch, following a December 2025 exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The New York opening brought together archival pieces from across the studio’s history : the Vertigo collection for Christofle (2002), the Nespresso Ritual service (2010), the Veuve Clicquot box (2006), alongside new editions and a reconstruction of the Morgans Hotel bathroom. Christofle, Diptyque, Saints Pères, and L’Ami Pierre joined the evening, presented as part of Villa Albertine’s Oui Design! programme during NYCxDesign.
