Limbo Design
Accra, Ghana
Launched in 2026, Limbo Design is the design programme of Limbo Museum. In partnership with Studio Marant, it is co-directed by Dominique Petit-Frère and Emily Marant, together they share its curatorial and partnership direction.
West Africa is home to a wealth of design practices, from independent studios to craft workshops and research labs, yet they too often work in isolation. With Limbo Design we set out to connect them across borders, disciplines and generations, through four strands: a digital platform mapping the people, materials and skills behind West African design, an annual residency pairing designers with local artisans and manufacturers; workshops and public gatherings and a growing network of institutions across the region.
The programme opens on 2 November 2026 with Ground Conditions: Tamale, a conversation with Ibrahim Mahama and Nifemi Marcus-Bello at Red Clay, Tamale, during Accra Cultural Week, powered by the LOEWE Foundation.
