French Cliché
Paris & New York
In 2019, Emily Marant co-founded French Cliché with Hugo Matha: a nomadic collectible design platform pairing emerging artists with craftspeople, each rooted in a specific French savoir-faire. Victor Cadène with Maison Thévenon. Marion Mailaender with Atelier des Lys. Eva Taulois with Maison S. Each pairing creates new territory: the craftsperson’s technique becomes a new formal language for the artist, the artist’s vision brings a contemporary perspective to a craft passed down over generations. Every piece: a numbered, signed limited edition.
Since founding it, Emily Marant and Hugo Matha have worked with more than thirty artists, designers and craftspeople : across art fairs, design shows and independent spaces in Paris and New York: Paris Design Week, Art-O-Rama, The Invisible Collection, COLLECTIBLE Design, Sotheby’s, AD Intérieurs. French Cliché has carried French craft into these new spaces, in front of new audiences and buyers.
